Swim into smaller fish and hermit crabs. Each one you eat makes you grow. Stay on prey under your size, and leave the ones that are already bigger.
Fish Eat Fish gameplay
Eat smaller fish, grow, and boost away from anything bigger.
Eat smaller fish until you are the big one
Fish Eat Fish starts you as a small fish. Move the mouse and the fish follows. Swim into anything smaller than you. Little fish and hermit crabs both count. Every meal makes you larger, and a larger fish can eat prey it had to avoid a minute ago.
A fish bigger than you is the danger. It can swallow you in one pass. Hold the left mouse button for a burst of speed and get out of the way. A squid will not eat you, but one touch paralyzes you, so treat it like a wall you cannot sit on.
Early on, only take the easy food. Sitting still makes you a meal. Keep moving, skip prey that is close to your own size, and use the boost to leave a chase, not to start one you cannot finish. Stay alive long enough and you are the fish everything else has to dodge.
How to Play Fish Eat Fish

Eat what is smaller than you

Get away from a bigger fish
A fish larger than you can swallow you. Move the mouse to steer clear. Hold the left mouse button when you need speed to break off the chase.
Grow first, then hunt
A tiny fish is food. The first minutes are hermit crabs and the smallest fish, taken while you keep moving. A fish near your own size is a bad chase. If it is bigger, it eats you. If it is only a little smaller, it can still slip away while a predator closes in.
The boost is for leaving. Hold the left mouse button, clear the bigger fish, then let go and go back to easy prey. Burning the boost to cross the whole sea just leaves you slow when you actually need it.
Bigger fish eat you, squids stop you
Predators are the fish above your size. Dodge early. Waiting until they are on top of you is how a run ends. A squid is different. It does not swallow you. Touch it and you are paralyzed, and anything nearby gets a free bite.
Keep swimming. A fish that hangs in one spot is easy to line up. Circle toward food, away from the larger bodies, and only turn back for a meal you can finish.
